As I work out a dialectic for the part that shadow has in discussions of figure and ground, I realise that my specific interest in a distinct and independent shadow gives some space to identifying the Shadow as a creature of the Ground. Very much in the sense of Edwin Abbott Abbott's [sic] book Flatland(1884) the two-dimensional Shadow becomes the master of the two-dimensional Ground.
In these images the white protective suits do not represent Shadow, being deflated Figure they linger on as some Ghost of Narrative.
